How Should I Be Layering My Skincare

People often get confused by this' so here's a simple way to work it out. Layer skin products according to their thickness. Start with the lightest and most watery, for example toner, and work through to the thickest formula such as moisturiser. And remember no matter what the texture always finish with broad spectrum SPF30 which includes UVA protection. And here's a list of how application goes - Morning -
1 Cleanse
2 Tone
3 Serum (whole face) & Eye Serum (obviously around the eye area)
4 Day Moisturiser (usually not too thick so it sits well under make up, unless you are older with dry skin)
5 SPF broad spectrum
6 Make up
Evening (preferably a couple of hours before bed or your products end up on the pillow which is a waste of your money)
1 Cleanse
2 Tone
3 Serums (as above)
4 Night Moisturiser (generally thicker to plump up the skin)
The only other two products to add in to a good skincare routine are -
Exfoliators these are under estimated but so important. They remove dead skin cells which clog pores causing spots, they also prevent your lovely serums and moisturisers being able to sink into your deeper skin layers. And if you don't remove the layers of dead skin cells with an exfoliator then lines and wrinkles look more obvious. You can use an exfoliator once per week if younger but generally when we are 50 or older twice a week.
Lastly Masks - They are great to give dry skin an extra boost of moisture and equally great to help balance oily skin to reduce excessive sebum oils. You just need to buy one for your skin type and then once a week after you have removed make up then just pop one on and relax for the designated time and then remove and follow with toner, serum and your am or pm moisturiser.
And there you have it how to layer my skincare. Keep it simple and consistent every day for healthy, younger looking skin.
